School of Economics and Managementof Inner Mongolia University, (former Department of Economics) was founded in 1978. The development for more than 30 years has made it become an important base for cultivating senior talents in economics and management in Inner Mongolia and even in western China. It was listed as one of the key disciplines in the “211 Project” and “The Project of enhancing the comprehensive strength of Mid-West Colleges and Universities ”.

The school covers two major disciplines of Economics and Management, including 6 departments (Department of Economics, Department of Applied Economics, Department of Business Administration, Department of Management Science, Department of Finance, and Department of Accounting) and 8 research centers (China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Research Institute, China Time Utilization Investigation and Research Center, Urban and Real Estate Research Center, National Economic Research Center, Regional Economy Research Center, Enterprise Case Research Center, Energy Economics and Strategic Management Research Center, and Industrial Economy Research Center).

The School has 1 innovation team of the Ministry of Education - Sustainable development for resource-based industry and resource-rich region economy; 1 research base of philosophy and social science for Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region - Sustainable development for Inner Mongolia regional economy; 1 Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Inner Mongolia; 1 Lab of Behavioral and Experimental Economics; 1 Engineering Technology Research Center of Geographic Economic Data for Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region approved by Inner Mongolia Department of Science and Technology; and 1 engineering research center (engineering laboratory) on Big Data analysis technology co-established by School of Computer, School of Mathematics at Inner Mongolia University.

By the end of June 2017, the School has a total of 98 faculty members, including 75 full-time teachers with 15 professors, 27 associate professors, and 53 teachers with doctoral degree. Among them, there is 1 winner of “the National Millions of Talents Program”, 2 winners of “the Program for New Centrury Exemplary Talents” of the Ministry of Education, 4 winners of “Grassland Talent Program” of Inner Mongalia Autonomous Region, 3 winners of “New Era 321 Talents Program”, 1 winner of “National Accounting Leader Program”, and 1 winner of “Fulbright Visiting Scholar”. The School has always taken personnel training as the basic task and strengthened the reform on teaching to improve the quality of personnel training according to the characteristics of disciplines and subjects. At present, the School has 2 Brand Majors(Economics, Finance), 3 Excellent Courses (Management accounting; Macro-economics; Theory and practice of investment banking), and 1 Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. By the end of June 2017, the School has 1272 undergraduates (including 64 foreign students), 182 academic graduate students (including 39 foreign students), 585 graduate students of professional degree (including 152 EMBA students). In recent years, the initial employment rate of graduates remained at around 85%.

The School is undertaking the task of constructing the base for doctoral degree of Minority Economics. It has 2 MSc programs of the first-class discipline (Applied Economics and Business Administration), 2 MSc programs of the second-class discipline (Political Economics and China's Minority Economics) as well as 3 MSc programs of professional degree (MBA (including EMBA), MPAcc and MF). Recently, the School is applying for the doctoral program of Applied Economics to fill the blank in Inner Mongalia. The School has 10 undergraduate majors (Economics, International Economics and Trade, Finance, Financial Engineering, Accounting, Financial Management, Business Administration, Management Science, Human Resources Management, and Marketing).

The School has always emphasized the scientific research and social service. During “the National Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, we won 29 grants of National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2 grants of the National Social Science Foundation of China, 1 “Innovation Team Project” of Ministry of Education, 1 “Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Foundation” of Ministry of Education, and 1 subproject of National Science and Technology Program Supporting Project, with
